Meet Leah... Author, Speaker, Community Health Advocate
Anolia ‘Leah’ Orfrecio Facun came to the United States in her early twenties with only a suitcase and few dollars in hand. She knew no one, and had no home to go to. Trained as a nurse in her native Philippines, she anticipated continuing in that career. However, her passion for teaching, wellness, and preventive health led her to several successful entrepreneurships. In Yes! The Secrets Work! , Leah shares the wisdom gleaned from her journey of barely surviving to her destination of thoroughly thriving.

Leah is happily married with three grown children, and she and her husband of 30 years, Victor, live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California and enjoy traveling and mission work.

Highlights of Anolia’s Professional Career

As a Community Volunteer and Leader:

•Community Volunteer and PTA (Parents and Teachers Association) President – Davis Intermediate School, San Jose, CA in the ‘90s. Main projects include:
Parents Classes - Basic Life Skills Cours
Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Event
Tree Planting Day
Davis Holiday Gift-Giving Spirit Drive
Start Right, Start Now Seminar, in collaboration with other leaders and speakers in the Bay Area, CA.

•Organized/Coordinated the first “Make A Difference Day” event in Los Banos, CA, 2000 and 2001, which became an annual event. This was a community collaboration project with the City, Police and Fire Department, and other private and public sector. This event coincides to participate with the national Make A Difference Day, the national day to help others by the USA WEEKEND magazine in partnership with The Points of Light Foundation and other supporters.

She also initiated and coordinated a “LBHS Community Health Fair and Disaster Preparedness” event; and “Walk for Youth.”

•Initiated/coordinated “Make A Difference Day” project in Milpitas, CA 2007 & 2008

•Volunteer to various churches, schools and other community projects/events. In one church, she was voted as the Women’s Fellowship President and recipient of “Mother of the Year” award.

As an Entrepreneur:

•She handled responsibilities from general office manager, business partner, recruiter, trainer, and president/founder of QML Unlimited, LLC and Consumer Resources Network. Some of the highlights:

She started in business with her husband Victor during their early twenties in the nineteen-eighties. They were promoted to RVP (Regional Vice President) after a year. They opened an office. She handled the office administration and the training of close to a hundred people in their organization. They were among the first members of ALWilliams 100,000 Club, traveled to many major cities in the US and the world through winning just about each of the company sponsored contests. After three years in the business, they were promoted to SVP (Senior Vice President), and Leah was recognized as MVP (Most Valuable Partner) in their region. This business experience was a great blessing to them, personal and career wise. Other businesses she was involved with, like Thermomix (a German based company) and MILI Group, Inc. (a real estate and mortgage company), recognized her as a Top Producer, #1 Recruiter, rewarded luxurious trips and other awards. Both Anolia and husband, Victor, individually earned six figures income on several occasions. In real estate, she exceeded one time goal of owning ten R.E. properties, for retirement purposes, within two years supported by her husband. This included a total of 7 homes and 5 pieces of lands totaling to over a hundred acres. It was again another challenging effort to reach a goal and a sure great learning experience. Can it be done? What  will it take to get it done? What will be the long-term result of these effort? The answers at the end are amazing eye opener.

As a Nurse:

•She worked as a hospital staff nurse; quality management and staff development coordinator on skilled nursing facilities; and director of nursing services in a psychiatric facility. Her experiences ranged from hospital nursing in different units from operating room, telemetry/cardiac unit, medical, surgical, OB-Gyn, nursery, and oncology; skilled nursing; and private home health care. She learned a lot not only on the technical nursing aspects but mainly about all kinds of people, from patients to doctors, hospital workers and volunteers to relatives and visitors – their lives, roles, responsibilities, behaviors, needs and coping mechanisms. It was truly a worthwhile and rewarding career, but she thought there must be other ways or areas where she can apply her knowledge and ability and still continue to care for and help others.

•Leah spearheaded the first International Nurses Conference for her school alumni in 2000 held in San Francisco, CA attended by approx. 500 delegates from all over the world, with just a handful of team members from her local chapter in Northern California when she was the president. As a result, the Alumni Association (MJCNAA) raised a significant amount of money for their school and community projects, and new regional chapters were established. This became a tradition for her alumni association that another International Nurses Conference is being held every 3 to 4 years.
